A citation in an AI answer is not the same as a search impression. The answer either names the brand, links to one of its pages, or both. Keep those apart: a link to your page in the sources list without a mention in the answer is a weaker outcome than being recommended by name.
Count from saved answers, not from site analytics. Analytics only sees the small share of people who click through, and most AI answers end without a click.
